National Nurses Week is celebrated every year to recognize and reflect on the impactful and rewarding experiences that define the nursing profession. Nurses are at the forefront of healthcare, providing not just medical care but also compassion and comfort to those in need. In celebration of this important week, we're honored to have two of our team members share insights the profound personal and professional fulfillment their nursing career brought them.
Dr. Ellen Kuhnert, our Chief Nursing Officer, shares the impact that young patients in the PICU had on her life when she worked at the bedside given their resilience and willingness to fight the most critical of situations and get better. She also expressed the wonderful experience of staying connected with families even after patients left the hospital and seeing them continue to grow and flourish.
As a nurse leader, she also expresses the rewarding feeling of being able to mentor young nurse leaders and seeing them flourish in their respective careers and knowing she had the honor of playing a small role in it.
Like Ellen, Kelly Wopershall, our clinical onboarding specialist, shares the deep gratitude that comes from teaching and guiding other nurses in their journey.
She also shares the unique opportunity labor and delivery nurses get to be a part of welcoming new life into the world and the feeling that comes with knowing you will forever be a part of that patient’s story.
Celebrating Every Nurse
Ellen and Kelly’s memories are just two examples of the countless rewarding moments that nurses across the globe experience every day. During National Nurses Week, let us all take a moment to appreciate the hard work, dedication, and compassion that nurses bring to their roles. Whether it’s through a healing touch or a comforting word, the impact of nursing extends far beyond the confines of hospitals and clinics—it reaches into the heart of our communities.
To every nurse, thank you for your service, your sacrifices, and your unwavering commitment to caring for others. Your work is truly heroic, and it does not go unnoticed.
